A Note from the Director

Our hope for all people is perfect health, optimum functioning, and abundant vitality. If any of those are compromised, their restoration or achievement is needed. This is a path and process called “Healing”.

One formula for Healing is to:
Recognize the challenge
Remove the negative stimuli
Introduce positive influences
Mobilize and fortify the person’s inner strength (his or her desire, hope, faith, and will power to pursue the Healing Path).

Live harp music, played with therapeutic intentions, opens a gateway for that mobilization and fortification. This music can aid in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual pursuit of healing. This is the humble goal of GentleMUSES.

The Muses welcome other musicians who play appropriate instruments, and would like to use their skills to enhance the healing ambience of MassGeneral Hospital.

All GentleMUSES play on Blevins 34 string Encore harps and on Westover 23-string Therapy harps that we keep at MassGeneral Hospital. In addition, we have harp dollies, portable benches, extra strings, tuners and tuning keys. So harpists do not need to bring their own harps.
